Where the questions come from

Every practice question in Mr. Driver’s Ed is written from the state’s own official driver handbook, and each one carries a citation to the handbook page it came from — so a missed question points you at the real source rather than at a paraphrase. The handbooks themselves are publications of their respective states; they are quoted here for study reference and remain the property of their publishers.

The table below names, for all 50 states and the District of Columbia, the government agency that publishes the handbook, the edition the app’s question bank was written from, a direct link to the official source, and — where the state publishes one — a direct link to its official Spanish edition. Every link goes to that agency’s own official site — a .gov domain in 50 of the 51 cases, and Wyoming’s official WYDOT site, dot.state.wy.us, in the fifty-first.

A handbook edition can change after a question bank is written. If you find a question that no longer matches your state’s current handbook, write to support@mrdriversed.com and I will correct it.

The Spanish column

Thirty-seven of the 51 jurisdictions publish an official Spanish edition of their driver handbook. Where one exists and I could confirm the link was live, the last column goes straight to it, on the state’s own site. Every one of those links was checked on September 2, 2026; the full survey, including what was searched for the states that publish none, is in the repository as docs/research/spanish-handbooks-2026-09-02.md.

Two things about that column are worth more than the links.

First: the Spanish edition a state publishes is usually older than the English one, sometimes by many years. Texas’s Spanish manual is marked “Revisado en septiembre de 2017” against an English handbook revised in January 2026. Louisiana’s is from 2013, Rhode Island’s from 2015, Mississippi’s and Hawaii’s from 2017. California’s and Wisconsin’s are condensed summaries rather than full translations. So the citations in the app point to the page of the English handbook, which is the edition the questions were written from and the one your state examines you on. Use the Spanish edition to read and understand; use the English one to check a page number.

Second: the Spanish inside Mr. Driver’s Ed is mine, not the state’s. The app’s questions are written in English from the handbook and then translated by Mr. Driver’s Ed. No DMV wrote, reviewed, or approved that Spanish, and it is not connected to the Spanish handbooks linked below beyond covering the same rules of the road.
